As salaam alaikum,
I pray this message finds you well.
I just wanted to share a quick message on relationships. I believe that one of the fundamental reasons we have relationships- or maybe a fundamental desired blessing within them- is so that we can be of benefit to that other person. Most importantly, so that we can pray for that person.
Often we can see a need in others that they cannot see in themselves, and vice versa. In relationships we get to be that missing puzzle piece that completes someone elses picture. We don’t need to be all full of ourselves, they may have 99/100 things together and figured out … but that small piece we bring, our perspective, our perception, most importantly our prayer might just be that thing that completes a vision or a need for someone else.
On the last point , I believe the most important thing we can do for anyone we love or care about is to pray for them. In actuality, I believe we are almost cheating our relationships if we are not praying for those we claim to love or care about.
It could be that for those who have already passed on our prayer for them brings some relief to some difficulty in the grave, perhaps it brings some added light, or a sweet beeeze when they need it most. Perhaps our prayers lift weights and burdens from the hearts of those we pray for both living and deceased.
It has been a goal of mine these past couple of years to be a better host and a better friend. In doing so a big part of the latter is being that person that prays for those I care about.
If you have a loved one or friend you care about… the type of person or people who live in your heart no matter the distance , be that person who sends them a gift of prayer. Prayer not only connects us to Allah, but when we pray for each other it also bonds the hearts together.
I have a friend who passed away a few years ago, Jenielle, and I think about her from time to time. I chuckle at how we used to joke about getting in shape so we can look good in our old age. Neither of us knowing then that she would die before she reached 40 years old, leaving behind four young children. I ask Allah to make her grave spacious, continue to guide her children on the straight path, and bless her with a beautiful reunion with her family in the company of the beloved in the next life. I think of her and I’m happy that I can pray for her. I think maybe the best part of our relationship can be that I make Du’a for her in her absence and maybe it be a means to some good for her. I want to be that type of friend. The friend whose prayer lifts someone up on the unseen. No accolades or recognition needed from anyone but Allah. Just a receptacle used to dispense some of Allahs good in this world for those He has caused my heart to incline to.
Be that person seeking to offer in a relationship something that fulfills a need or lightens a load from the other person.
May Allah forgive us our sins and make easy the path to Him for us all.
With love,
wa salaam alaikum

As salaam alaikum Reader, I pray this message finds you well. I want to share with you that I've always felt there was something special about women that Allah has kept to Himself...and has left purposefully somewhat clouded in mystery in this world. Allah is very specific about how Adam was created, but for women He tells us only that we were created from the rib of Adam. Allah is very specific about a mans role in a marriage, as maintainer, provider, and protector; but for women He is more...
