As salaam alaikum Reader,
I pray this message finds you well. Ramadan is aroud the corner, and we pray Allah blesses us to witness it and make the most of it, Ameen.
Allah says in the Quran:
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ بِمَا كَفَرُوا۟ وَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِى وَرُسُلِى هُزُوًا ١٠٦
That is their reward: Hell, for their disbelief and mockery of My signs and messengers.
Chapter 18: 106
I am reflecting on this ayat as a reminder to myself and you, that not everything is a laughing matter. We find ourselves in a time of friviloity where sacredness has dwindled away from most things, so the sacreligious has become the norm. But with Allah, not everything is a laughing matter. Allah tells us that some people will be punished with hell because of their disbelief and mockery of His signs and His messengers.
Allah is reminding us that what is important to Him is importatnt. What is sacred to Him is sacred, and for the things that He has honored the punishment for dishonoring them is severe. As we step into this month of taqwa, fear and awe of Allah, let us remember to elevate what Allah has elevated and to never belittle what He holds dear. Let that fear, awe, and conciousness of Allah change us from the inside out. Let that fear, awe and presence remind us to hold fast and dear to that which Allah has demed worthy, and to turn towards and keep holy and sacred that which He has deemed as such.
